Saurav and I have always shared a mutual love for trekking. It’s during these treks that we often stumble upon local treasures—products that are deeply rooted in the land and tradition of the places we explore. Our recent trips have taken us to places as diverse as Jammu and Kashmir, where we were once again reminded of how much nature has to offer if we just look closely. One of our most memorable discoveries happened during a trek in the stunning valleys of Kashmir. It was late afternoon, and after hours of hiking through rugged, pristine trails, we reached a small village nestled in the mountains. There, we were welcomed by a local family who insisted on serving us their traditional fare. What caught our attention wasn’t just the warmth of their hospitality but the ingredients they used—everything was locally sourced, from saffron grown in their fields to the fragrant Kahwa tea made with wild herbs. As we explored more, we came across something truly remarkable—local farmers harvesting wild walnuts and almonds, sun-drying apricots, and cultivating rare spices that the outside world seldom hears of. The purity, the care, and the process were all so natural, so connected to the land, that it left us stunned. Saurav and I both thought the same thing—why were such treasures, grown with love and respect for nature, not reaching more people? It was moments like these, on treks like these, that sparked our vision for Terrabite. We realized nature holds so many secrets and gifts for us—why not make them available in their purest forms? From the wild forest honey of the Sundarbans to the rare nuts and apricots of Jammu and Kashmir, we were determined to bring these unique, untouched products to a wider audience. The discovery in Jammu and Kashmir reaffirmed our belief that the best of what nature has to offer shouldn’t be hidden.
